Onam Celebration at Uyare
Celebrate Onam at Uyare on 26 August, as we bring Kerala’s largest annual festival to Leeds, honouring harvest, prosperity, and homecoming. The festival centers on the story of King Mahabali, a beloved and generous ruler. The celebration marks his symbolic return each year to visit his people, who welcome him with flowers, feasting, and music.
This year at Uyare, they are recreating this tradition as an immersive experience. Guests can step inside the story of Onam, featuring an intricate floral arrangement, a real-life Maveli to interact with, traditional decorations, Kerala music, and cultural entertainment.
At the heart of the experience will be the Onam Sadhya, a celebratory vegetarian feast featuring over 10 dishes that represent the diverse flavors, textures, and elements of Kerala’s culinary heritage.
Uyare’s aim is to bring a piece of Kerala to Leeds, offering the local community an opportunity to experience something new.
