Easy makeup looks for looking flawless fast!
These makeup tips were made for lazy girls and sleepy mornings
Lazy girls rejoice: these easy makeup hacks mean you can hit the snooze button again and still leave the house looking flawless. We’ve broken it down into three easy beauty looks: skin, eyes and lips. Pick and choose which one you fancy (or set aside 10 minutes and apply all three). Minimum effort required? Yes, please.
How to get glowing skin
For an easy natural glow, target those eyebags first: choose an easily blendable liquid concealer like this one from Urban Decay. Make sure it’s the correct shade for your skin tone – so come in and test out a few. Harvey Nichols has plenty of beauty counters to browse, including amazing brands such as Urban Decay and Tom Ford. Dab the concealer in three dots under each eye with the sponge wand, then gently press to hide any dark circles. Next, using a highlighter, make a ‘C’ shape of on the top of your cheekbone and up to your eyebrow. You can either opt for a solid highlighter stick, cream or a liquid one, which you can apply with a foundation brush. Finish with a creamy blush in a nice pinky hue to give your face that natural glow. Apply to the apples of your cheeks and blend in. You glow getter, you… Our picks: Urban Decay Stay Naked Correcting Concealer, £20, Harvey Nichols; NARS Illuminator in Copacabana, £24, John Lewis & Partners; Tom Ford Cream Cheek Colour; £52, Harvey Nichols
How to do a simple smokey eye
Grab yourself a brown eye pencil. Choose a chubbier kohl pencil, rather than a skinny one, like the BY TERRY pencil from Space NK. It’ll be quicker to apply (and we’re all for a quick routine in the morning). Roughly draw along both of your top lids, close to the lash line, then use your finger to gently smudge the line. Do the same along your bottom lashes. If you want a more dramatic look, swap for a black liner; this brown one is great for a day look. Apply a few coats of mascara, starting from the base and wiggling the wand sideways to add lift to your lashes. Then flutter those eyes as you run out the door. Our picks: Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara, £25, Space NK; By Terry Stylo Blackstar, £25, Space NK
How to do a quick red lip
If there’s one way to look more awake and polished (even if you’re not feeling it), then slick on a red lip. Rather than mess around trying to perfect the perfect shape with lip liner and lipstick, get a chubby lip pencil that offers precision to line your pout while also pigment to quickly fill in your lips too. This NARS lip pencil from John Lewis & Partners is a gorgeous orange-red shade with a slight sheer to it. However, you may find you need to test out which red lipstick shade suits your skin’s tone by experimenting in store. Next up, dab using your ring finger to blur the lip line a little. This is a fresh new way to wear lippy – plus it’s great if you don’t have the time to hone the most perfect cupid’s bow. Finally, to give your lip colour staying powder, while also giving it a modern matte look, use a blending or large eyeshadow brush to dust over some loose powder. Now pucker up and go. Our picks: NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Famous Red, £17.60, John Lewis & Partners; Dior Diorskin Forever & Ever Control Loose Powder, £30.80, John Lewis & Partners
